What is ZYRTEC?

If I miss a dose of ZYRTEC?

  • ZYRTEC has tendency to react soon to alcohol and other CNS depressants. Check with your doctor before taking ZYRTEC along with CNS depressants.
  • ZYRTEC may sometimes cause few people to become drowsy or less alert than they are normally. Make sure you know how you react to the ZYRTEC you are taking before you drive, use machines, or do any activity that requires you to be alert.
  • ZYRTEC may cause dryness of the mouth, nose, and throat. However, if your mouth continues to feel dry for more than 2 weeks due to intake of ZYRTEC, check with your doctor.
  • Patients using dimenhydrinate, diphenhydramine, or hydroxyzine: ZYRTEC controls nausea and vomiting. For this reason, it may cover up the signs of overdose caused by other medicines or the symptoms of appendicitis. Make sure your doctor knows that you are taking this medicine along with ZYRTEC.
  • For patients using diphenhydramine or doxylamine as a sleeping aid: If you are already taking a sedative or tranquilizer, do not take ZYRTEC without consulting your doctor first.
  • ZYRTEC is pregnancy category B drug. It means that it will not harm the unborn baby. Please remember to take advice from your doctor if you want to use ZYRTEC during pregnancy. Also, contact doctor immediately if you get pregnant or plan to become pregnant while taking ZYRTEC. For breast-feeding women the intake of ZYRTEC is not advisable. Discuss with your doctor if you want to use ZYRTEC while you are breast-feeding the baby.

  • As a side effect ZYRTEC might result in swollen lips or face.
  • Problems in breathing soon after taking ZYRTEC;
  • Irregular or uneven heartbeat may be caused by ZYRTEC
  • ZYRTEC may get sores in mouth or nose, fever or chills, or sore throat as a result of usage of ZYRTEC.
  • Swelling of the lips, tongue, or face, or hives may also be experienced if you are taking ZYRTEC.

Other less serious side effects of ZYRTEC may be more likely to occur. Continue to take ZYRTEC and talk to your doctor if you experience any of the below mentioned side effects:

  • You may feel drowsiness or dizziness due to intake of ZYRTEC.
  • You may feel your mouth dry after taking ZYRTEC medicine.
  • You may get headache, tremor, nervousness, and anxiety in case you are taking ZYRTEC.
