Product Description

What is ZANTAC?
Zantac belongs to the histamine-2 blockers group of drugs. It acts on the acid by reducing the amount of acid in the stomach. It also controls the diseases that cause acids like Zollinger-Ellison syndrome. Zantac also treats gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) and other conditions in which acid backs up from the stomach into the esophagus, causing heartburn. Zantac is used to treat and prevent ulcers in the stomach and intestines. Zantac may also be used for other purposes not listed here.

How ZANTAC is beneficial?
Ranitidine or Zantac contains sodium bicarbonate and monosodium citrate, and therefore has an acid-neutralizing capacity in addition to the well-documented anti-secretory activity. The effects of ranitidine tablets on intragastric pH and on the relief of heartburn are reviewed. It was found that there is a greater rise in intragastric pH in the hour immediately after dosing. Comparative studies show that intragastric pH is raised significantly faster after a single dose of effervescent ranitidine than after a famotidine rapid release tablet and after either an omeprazole or a lansoprazole capsule. Patients suffering from acid reflux disease get quicker relief from ranitidine than a standard tablet and are preferred by most patients for this reason. The majority of patients (more than 80%) report symptom relief within 60 min of taking effervescent ranitidine.

What is the Dosage of ZANTAC?
Dosage of Zantac vary according to your age and medical condition treated. Though the recommended dosage of Zantac that is usually taken is 150 mg twice a day and 300 mg once daily in the evening. Once the infection is cured 150 mg dose once in a day in evening is enough.

If I Overdose ZANTAC?
Overdose of any medicine is not good for health. But if you feel you have taken an overdose of Zantac seek emergency medical attention. Overdose symptoms may include lack of coordination, feeling light-headed, or swooning.

If I Miss a Dose of ZANTAC?
If missed a dose of Zantac take it as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and take the medicine at the next regularly scheduled time. Do not take extra medicine to make up the missed dose unless your doctor recommends.

Do I Need to Avoid Anything while Consuming ZANTAC?

  • Avoid alcohol
  • Avoid high fat meals
  • Avoid acidic beverages and eatables like coffee, acidic fruit and spicy foods. We should avoid them in order to reduce acid reflux
