Precautions while taking ULTRAM?
Take ULTRAM if and only if prescribed by the doctor. Take the dosage of ULTRAM as per the doctor’s instructions.

• FDA has given pregnancy category C rating to ULTRAM. This means that ULTRAM may be harmful to an unborn baby. ULTRAM may also cause serious or fatal side effects in a newborn if the mother uses the medication during pregnancy or labor. Please tell your doctor if you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant during ULTRAM treatment.
• ULTRAM can pass into breast milk and may harm a nursing baby. Do not use ULTRAM medication without telling your doctor if you are breast-feeding a baby. ULTRAM should be discontinued if you want to breast feed the baby.
• Please tell your doctor about the allergies to medicines, foods, or other substances that you have.
• Take the doctor’s advice regarding the intake of ULTRAM, if you have a history of alcohol abuse, substance abuse, or suicidal thoughts or behaviors.
• If you have or recently have had any head injury, brain injury or tumor, increased pressure in the brain, or infection of the brain or nervous system avoid the intake of ULTRAM.
• Discuss with the about the dosage of ULTRAM, if you have a history of stomach or intestinal problems, asthma or other lung or breathing problems, epilepsy, seizures, or chronic inflammation or ulceration of the bowels.
• Don’t take ULTRAM, if you have had recent abdominal surgery.
• Individuals suffering from the heart problems, liver problems (e.g., hepatitis), kidney problems, thyroid problems, enlargement of the prostate gland, or urinary problems should consult doctor before starting the dosage of ULTRAM.
• Your mouth may get dry after taking ULTRAM so use chewing sugarless gum, sucking hard candy, and drink plenty of water to avoid this.
• Patients having seizure should not take ULTRAM.
• People with the history of alcohol addiction or other narcotics addiction should not take ULTRAM for the longer duration
• The safety of ULTRAM is not known in children. So, please avoid giving the ULTRAM to children.
• Regular check-ups are mandatory for the elderly patients using ULTRAM

Storage of ULTRAM:

• Store ULTRAM at room temperature between 20 to 25 degrees C.
• Keep ULTRAM away from light and moisture.
• Do not store ULTRAM in the bathroom and near the kitchen sinks.
• Do not freeze the tablets of ULTRAM.
• Keep ULTRAM away from children and pets.
• Keep ULTRAM in a dust-free environment.

Warnings:

• Seizures are reported in some patients who are taking the recommended dosage. So, the patients having the history of seizures should avoid the dosage of ULTRAM.
• Suicidal risk is always present in the patients who have suicidal or addiction prone and among the patients who have the family history of suicides and have attempted to do suicide previously.

How ULTRAM is supplied?

• ULTRAM is supplied in the form of 100 mg, 200 mg, and 300 mg tablets.
• The tablets of ULTRAM are round and convex in shape and white in color.

ULTRAM side effects:
Contact the doctor immediately or seek the medical attention as soon as possible and discontinue the ULTRAM dosage if you experience any of the following allergic reactions:

• Weak pulse;
• Irregular heartbeats;
• Difficulty in breathing;
• Convulsions;
• Swelling of the lips, tongue, face; or
• Red rashes on the skin followed by peeling and blistering of skin.

These severe side effects of ULTRAM occur rarely.

Less serious ULTRAM side effects include:

• Blurred vision
• Nausea, diarrhea, upset stomach;
• Drowsiness, tired feeling;
• Fever;
• Nasal blockage;
• Cough and flu;
• Headache;
• Weakness

The above mentioned ULTRAM side effects are observed during the initial dosage. These ULTRAM side effects disappear as the body gets use to the dosage of the drug. Please inform you doctor if any of these ULTRAM side effects doesn’t go and becomes troublesome.

Drugs that will affect ULTRAM:

• if you are taking any prescription (especially depression medicines) or nonprescription medicine, herbal preparation, or dietary supplement
• if you are allergic to codeine, a codeine-related medicine (e.g., hydrocodone, dihydrocodeine, oxycodone), morphine, or a morphine-related medicine (e.g., hydromorphone)
