What is KEFLEX?

• Generic Keflex is an antibiotic belonging to the group of medicines known as cephalosporins that are used to treat the bacterial infections.
• It contains Cephalexin that stops the growth of bacteria by destroying the cell walls surrounding each bacteria.
• It prevents the multiplication of bacteria by preventing the newly formed bacteria from forming the cell walls. Thus, without the cell wall bacteria can not grow or multiply and hence bacteria die.
• Keflex  should be used only to treat the bacterial infections. Viral or fungal infections are not cured by it.

How Keflex is beneficial?

• Generic Keflex Medicine is used to treat the bacterial infections such as acute otitis media, middle ear infection, that is caused by Haemophilus influenzae, Moraxella catarrhalis, Staphylococcus aureus, and Streptococcus pneumoniae.
• It is effective antibiotic used in treatment of respiratory tract infections like braonchitis, pharyngitis, and tonsillitis caused by S. pneumoniae and S. pyogenes.
• It is used to treat bacterial infections of skin and skin structure caused by Staphylococcus aureus and/or Streptococcus pyogenes.
• Urinary tract infections including acute prostate infection can be treated with the help of KEFLEX.
• KEFLEX Tablets can also be used to treat the bacterial sinusitis that is not treated by any other antibiotic medicine.

What is the dosage of KEFLEX?

• Generic keflex should be used exactly as directed by doctor, or follow the directions that accompany the package.
• The prescribed dosage of KEFLEX is 250 mg four times in a day for the adults.
• The dosage of the KEFLEX can be increased depending upon the individual requirements and response to the preliminary dosage.
• Keflex Tablets should be taken orally with the full glass of water.
• The dosage of KEFLEX can be decreased by the physician depending on the side effects observed by the initial dosage.
• Don’t exceed the dosage of KEFLEX to more than 1000 mg per day otherwise it may cause severe hazards to your health.
• Keflex pills can be taken before or after the lunch depending upon the doctor’s prescription.
• It should not be taken more than thrice in a day.
• Break of at least 7 hours is necessary between every dosage of KEFLEX because it takes 6 hours for previous dosage of KEFLEX to get completely washed out of the body.
• Please don’t discontinue the dosage of KEFLEX as soon as you get the relief from the bacterial infections. Complete the recommended dosage of KEFLEX.

If I overdose KEFLEX?

• Any medication whether it is Keflex of any other taken in excess can have serious consequences. If you do think that an overdose has occurred, seek an emergency medical attention.
• Over dosage of Keflex can lead to nausea, vomiting, epigastric distress, diarrhea, and hematuria. Continuous over dosage can even lead to the death.%3
