- CLARINEX can also be used to treat itching and rash due to hives from unknown causes.
- CLARINEX contains Desloratadine as the active constituent and it also contains polarcrillin potassium NF, mannitol USP, gelatin Type B NF, aspartame NF, and citric acid USP as the inactive constituents.
- CLARINEX works by blocking histamines that are released by the immune system to cause an allergic reaction.

- If you miss the dosage then doesn’t take that dosage and please continue the CLARINEX dosage from the next time. Break of 24 hours is necessary between 2 doses of CLARINEX.
- Please don’t take extra dosage to match up with the missed dosage of CLARINEX.
- Missing the dosage of CLARINEX on regular basis when on scheduled dosage can show delay in the treatment of allergic reactions.
- If you are taking CLARINEX in a single dosage then the chance of missing the dosage doesn’t arises.
Precautions while taking CLARINEX:
- The safety of the CLARINEX is not known in the babies below 6 months of age. So, CLARINEX is not given to the babies below 6 months.
- If you are having allergy to Desloratadine or any other ingredients of the CLARINEX, please avoid the intake of the medicine.
- Special note for pregnant women: Pregnant women should avoid the intake of CLARINEX. Food and Drug Administration has put CLARINEX in the pregnancy C category drug. It means that unborn baby can be harmed, if pregnant women take the dosage of CLARINEX. Please talk to your doctor, if you want to take CLARINEX during the pregnancy. Doctor can suggest some medicines which reduces the effect of CLARINEX on unborn baby.
- In the breast-feeding women the intake of CLARINEX should be avoided because it passes through the milk to the child and can harm his health. If nursing mother is suffering from the severe allergic reactions and she needs to take CLARINEX then she should stop breast-feeding the baby while on CLARINEX dosage. Breast-feeding can be continued 3 to 4 days after stopping the dosage of CLARINEX.
- Special care should be taken while giving CLARINEX to the elderly patients. Doctor’s guidance should be taken regarding the dosage of CLARINEX in elderly patients.
- Individuals suffering from problems of kidney disease, liver diseases, or heart diseases should consult the doctor regarding the dosage of CLARINEX.
- Please don’t drive the machinery or any vehicle soon after taking the CLARINEX dosage because it can cause dizziness.
Do I need to avoid anything while consuming CLARINEX?
- Intake of alcohol should be avoided if you are under CLARINEX medication because increase in side effects was observed. If CLARINEX dosage is continued along with the excessive intake of alcohol on regular basis can lead to the delay in the treatment of symptoms of allergic reactions. No effects of smoking were observed on CLARINEX working.
- Soon after taking CLARINEX avoid driving, operating machinery, or performing other hazardous activities. CLARINEX may cause dizziness or drowsiness.
- If you experience dizziness or drowsiness due to CLARINEX, avoid these activities.
Storage of CLARINEX:
- Store CLARINEX at room temperature between 59 and 86 degrees F (between 15 and 30 degrees C).
- Keep CLARINEX away from light and moisture.
- Do not store CLARINEX in the bathroom.
- Do not freeze liquid forms of CLARINEX medication.
- Keep CLARINEX away from children.

Other side effects of CLARINEX, but less serious, may be more likely to occur. Continue to take CLARINEX and talk to your doctor if you experience
- Dizziness may result due to CLARINEX
- CLARINEX may cause back pain
- Headache problems
- Your throat may get sore due to CLARINEX.
- Muscle aches is experienced some times due to CLARINEX
- You would get tired, may be because of CLARINEX.
- May be your mouth get dried up because of CLARINEX.
- And some time you might feel your stomach is worse due to CLARINEX
These common CLARINEX side effects are observed mainly during the initial stages of the dosage. Sometimes, these CLARINEX side effects disappear as the body gets use to the dosage. Please inform your doctor if any of these side effects does not go and become troublesome
