Drugs that will affect CIPRO (Ciprofloxacin):
- CIPRO must not be taken in combination with Theophylline as it can cause seizures and disturbances in the frequency of heart beats.
- The drugs that react with CIPRO and may have harmful effects on your health are theophylline (Slo-Bid, Elixophyllin, Theolair, Theo-Dur, Slo-Phyllin), idanosine (Videx, ddI), warfarin (Coumadin), and insulin or an oral diabetes medication such as glipizide (Glucotrol), glyburide (Micronase, Diabeta, Glynase), and others.
- Administration of CIPRO together with magnesium/aluminum antacids, or sucralfate, Videx (didanosine) chewable/buffered tablets or pediatric powder, other highly buffered drugs, or with other products containing calcium, iron or zinc should be avoided. Please take CIPRO 6 hours after these medicines.
- Also inform your doctor before starting the dosage of CIPRO, if you are using any other over-the-counter or prescription medicines. Please don’t start any new medicines while you are using CIPRO without informing to the doctor.
