  • HIV/AIDS medicine such as nelfinavir (Viracept) or ritonavir (Norvir) may interfere in the working of AVODART and show the delay in the treatment;
  • An “SSRI” antidepressant (fluoxetine (Prozac), fluvoxamine (Luvox), or paroxetine (Paxil)) affects the functioning of the AVODART and increase in the side effects is observed.
  • (Elavil, Etrafon), clomipramine (Anafranil), desipramine (Norpramin), doxepin (Sinequan), imipramine (Janimine, Tofranil), nortriptyline (Pamelor), or protriptyline (Vivactil) when taken in combination with AVODART can lead to serious health problems.
  • An antibiotics like clarithromycin (Biaxin), erythromycin (E.E.S., E-Mycin, Ery-Tab, Erythrocin), itraconazole (Sporanox), ketoconazole (Nizoral), or troleandomycin (Tao) suppresses the effects of AVODART.
  • Tell your doctor about all the prescription and over-the-counter medications you are using before starting the dosage of AVODART. Please mention to the doctor about the  vitamins, minerals, herbal products, and drugs prescribed by other doctors. Side Effects

AVODART (Dutasteride) side effects:
AVODART showed some sex-related side effects which are as follows:

  • Amount of semen on ejaculation was observed to be decreased due to the intake of AVODART.
  • Erectile dysfunction was observed in 1% of individuals consuming generic AVODART.
  • Lack of interest in sex was observed rarely in some individuals.
  • Reduced sperm count was observed due to dosage of AVODART.

Side effects caused by AVODART were observed during the initial stage of the dosage. Only 1% of the users of AVODART were affected by side effects. Although side effects caused by AVODART disappeared gradually after the dosage of the AVODART was stopped.

Other side effects of AVODART are as follows:

  • Pain in testicles
  • Swelling in feet and hands
