Tadalafil

Tadalafil

Tadalafil is an increasingly popular drug used to treat impotence in men. It is taken in the form of a pill. Tadalafil was created by the Washington state based biotechnology firm ICOS and since its development has been marketed by Lilly ICOS LLC under the brand name by which you may know it, Cialis.

The FDA approved Tadalafil in December 2003 when it became the third erectile dysfunction treating pill to be given such approval following Viagra in 1998 and Levitra earlier in 2003. Originally (in 1993) tadalafil was not being tested in relation to the disorder that is erectile dysfunction, though the plausibility was assumed it was not until Viagra was popularized that scientists started to consider tadalafil as having real potential as an impotence tablet.

Currently tadalafil is being looked at as a possible treatment for pulmonary arterial hypertension. The current FDA approved treatment for this ailment is sildenafil under the brand name of Revatio. Sildenafil is the compound used to make Viagra, hence the idea that tadalafil could be used similarly.

Tadalafil works by encouraging the release of cGMP, Cyclic guanosine monophosphate, which is responsible for smooth muscle relaxation, as muscles and arteris around the penis relax blood flow to the penis naturally increases. Substances that work in this way are called phophodiesterase inhibitors, what you should note at this stage however is that the results of these drugs are not completely involuntary, indeed a certain among of sexual stimulation is required.

There are possible side effects to tadalafil usage; among the more serious, and rarer, side effects is loss of vision. This is most likely to occur in users who have certain contributing factors and to lower the risk of side effects a user should consult with a doctor about the possible risks and how their lifestyle can increase those risks, for example smoking is know to increase the chances of suffering adverse affects, ironically smoking is also one reason some men endure erectile dysfunction.

Because tadalafil and similar drugs cause low blood pressure certain medications should not be taken before or after tadalafil within a 48 hour period, organic nitrate medications specifically. To ensure your own safety, again, consult a practicing medical profession for up to date, expert information.

Cialis tablets can be recognized as yellow almond shaped pills with the letter C engraved on one side followed by a number, this number is the dosage of that particular pill in mg
